![]() You can get the biscuits from Popeye's a la carte with any meal you're ordering. The biscuits have a salty buttery flavor. Popeye's has traditional Southern buttermilk biscuits that are dense and flakey. Then, top the warmed biscuit with some butter and enjoy it!įAQs About This Popeyes Biscuit Recipe What biscuits does Popeyes have? But, if you want to heat up a refrigerated or frozen biscuit, just put it in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds. Now, if you're eating one of these biscuits at room temperature, there's no need to warm 'em up since they're tasty as is. So to store 'em, just transfer them to an airtight container - or sealable bag - and they'll last for up to 2 days at room temp or up to a week in the fridge.Īlso, just so you know, if you want to keep the biscuits for even longer, you can freeze them in a freezer-safe bag with the extra air squeezed, and they'll stay good for up to 2-3 months. Speaking of having a few left over, these biscuits store incredibly well. ![]() Even if everyone has a few biscuits with dinner, you'll probably have a few leftovers. ![]() This copycat recipe for Popeyes buttermilk biscuits makes about 12 biscuits, so it's a great recipe to make for a big family dinner. Then, once baked, you can take the biscuits out of the oven, brush them with some melted butter, and serve 'em warm. You'll know the biscuits are done when they are crisp and golden brown on the outside. Once the biscuits are good to go, you can transfer them onto your lightly greased baking sheet.Īt this point, the biscuits are ready for the oven, so you can bake 'em for about 20-22 minutes. Then, you can cut out about 12 biscuits using a cookie cutter, biscuit cutter, or a water glass. Now that you have a fully formed biscuit dough, you can roll the dough out to about ½ inch in thickness. Alternatively, you can combine the cold butter with the flour in a food processor and pulse until you have a grainy-looking dough.Īnyway, once the butter has been fully combined with the flour mixture, you can add the buttermilk and milk to the bowl and stir until a biscuit dough forms. Then, after you've done that, you can add the cold butter to the bowl and work it into the dough - make sure to do this with clean hands. Now, you can add the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt to a large bowl and whisk them together. Then, you'll want to grease a baking sheet with butter - or line it with parchment paper - and set it aside. Then, after that, all you have to do is form your biscuits from the dough, and the oven practically takes care of the rest after that.Īnyway, let's stop wasting time and get baking!įirst things first, you'll want to preheat your oven to 400☏ (200☌). You basically combine the dry ingredients with cold butter, then add the liquid ingredients, and mix until you have a biscuit dough. Now it's time for the fun part, it's time to make some homemade Popeyes biscuits!Īs I said before, making this recipe is effortless. Now, I like brushing the biscuits with melted butter right when they come out of the oven, but you can also spread some of this Texas Roadhouse cinnamon butter on them for a different delicious flavor. In fact, I bet you have all of them in your kitchen already! One of the best things about making this Popeys biscuit recipe is that you only need a few staple baking ingredients to make 'em. ![]() For what it's worth, I love serving these copycat Popeyes biscuits with these Popeyes cajun rice or Popeyes red beans and rice for the ultimate Popeye's meal at home. In fact, all you need to do is follow a few simple steps, and you'll have them ready in just 30 minutes!Īlso, since most of the hard work for making these biscuits is done in the oven, you'll have plenty of time to whip up the main course - like this southern style meatloaf or these pigs feet. ![]() Even if this is your first time making biscuits from scratch, I guarantee you'll have no trouble making this recipe. Plus, in addition to tasting great, these copycat Popeye's biscuits also happen to be a breeze to make. And they also have that fluffy texture inside with that crisp outer shell too. Having to go to that 1 location to get my "fix" just wasn't cutting it anymore.Īnyway, I'm happy to say that these biscuits have the same buttery, tangy, slightly sweet, and salty flavor of Popeyes buttermilk biscuits. Well, that and the fact that I've been craving them basically every day, and we only have one Popeye's in Buffalo. So, that's exactly why I decided to come up with a copycat recipe for their biscuits. I know they're famous for their fried chicken, but I've got to say the biscuits from Popeyes are even better - seriously, they're my favorite thing to order off the menu. It's like autotracing the screen image.COVID-19 has dramatically changed the way millions of people work. Inkscape's paint bucket fills only to the stroke edge and does it in screen resolution. It doesn't care the stroke width, it uses the midline. Illustrator's Shape Builder is far more developed. This can be good enough, but it isn't exact. The ends must be often moved onto the next curve except if you start on an already drawn curve. There the stroke should be quite narrow and snap on path should be ON. ![]() Using Wacom or other tablet you draw nearly as fast as onto paper. Use heavy smoothing to get only a few nodes. Open curves can be drawn fast with the pencil tool. Unfortunately I do not know, how well it works in other vector drawing programs. It has been still quite useful, if the filled area is zoomed in to big size at first. Inkscape has one too, but it works in screen resolution. Illustrator has it (= the shape builder) and it's precise. A fast way to draw is to use open curves and fill the areas with a paint bucket. Not asked: If you are going to draw plenty of new images in that style, not only trace a few old images, you have a little underpowered tool. I guess it would be far easier to leave the separate extra paths, only group them with the outline to keep all together. This is much extra work if you have many hands to draw. ![]() You probably must adjust a little the handles at the ends of the fingers. Do not drag handles, the curve moves quite loyally. I assume you have got something like this before adding the extra lines:ĭrag the corner point between the fingers to the other end of the line between the fingers and insert nodes to half way of both generated V branchesĭrag the new nodes to the same point they should snap. Of course you can convert the paths themselves to filled areas and make an union, but they become practically uneditable. The branch must be a separate path or it must be forth-back. Seven: Remove the stroke from this curve, and fill and apply transparency as you prefer for the final effect, and in my case I closed the curve along the wrist to control the wrist bump in the fill - I didn't have to do this - Affinity Designer will happily fill unclosed curves.Įight: Now unhide your original drawn curves of the entire hand, having assured that this group is higher in the draw order in the Layers Palette than the whole hand fill we just constructed, and you're good-to-go!Īt first: There's no such thing as closed path with a single stroke side branch. You will then see your curves joined into one.Ĭontinue this for all the curves in the exterior contour of the hand. Select both the contour curves (in my case the thumb and the wristline curves) and select Join Curves - note you don't need to select the specific nodes at which they connect, and in fact they don't have to perfectly touch - just have both curves selected and it'll work well. Six: Delete the extraneous curve portion (the interior curve of the base of the thumb in this case). ![]() Three: Copy-paste these outside the group, hide the group in the Layers Palette.įour: By left-clicking on a curve with the Node Tool (white arrow) add anchor-nodes where those lines intersect.įive: Then, with that node still selected, click on Break Curve in the tool-dependent area of the menubar (break, join etc only show up when you have a curve selected and are using the Node Tool) to break the curve at that node. Double click into that group, select only those curves which (partially) form the outline of the hand against space, excluding any lines which only delineate internal details. In my case using an old Wacom Intuous graphics tablet, pressure feeding stroke width. One: draw the cartooney hand, using the Vector Brush tool, with independent lines for each curve as one would normally draw or sketch. It appears far longer written than it is in practise: to draw this hand, with screencaps for documenting the process took me less than a minute. I'll tackle this in the most straightforward manner in Affinity Designer with a workflow which goes from how one naturally draws such a hand to the desired end result, quite quickly. ![]() ![]() Jean Passepartout, his French servant, is going with him. Also, is it customary for German mothers to teach their five-year-old children to smoke? At the age of ten, Gregor was dispatched to a boarding school of truly Dickensian awfulness. Gregor grieves for her, but this does not prevent him from letting us know, in small ways, the difficulties her illness created for her sons. When she was better, she smoked less and read loftier literature: Musil, Mann, Joseph Roth. When she was doing badly, she read romances, lots of them, and smoked heavily. This is a tender scene-he allows himself to cherish the little boy as she did (“I stretched my arms up into the air”)-but as the book progresses the mother turns out to be a mixed business. I stretched my arms up into the air, she pulled the jumper over my head, then stroked the hair from my forehead. She turned on the light, got me the checked shirt I’d been wearing during the day, went to the wardrobe smiling silently to herself and pulled out the thickest jumper she could find. He agreed, and from nine to eleven-thirty he lay in bed wide awake, rigid with excitement: She insisted that he take a nap before the fireworks. Hens had to work on her for months to get permission to stay up for the New Year’s Eve festivities. “Nicotine” is much shorter, only a hundred and fifty-seven pages, but Hens uses a similar alchemy to transform the things of his world-the family in which he grew up, in Cologne his former home in Columbus, where he taught German literature at Ohio State his apartment in Berlin, where he lives with his wife, and produces novels and translations-into whole relay stations of poetic force, humming and sparking and chugging. People will connect his book with Aldous Huxley’s “Doors of Perception,” and I’m sure Hens had that volume in mind, but if “Nicotine” has a literary progenitor I would say that it is “In Search of Lost Time,” in which Proust made the material of seven volumes bloom out of one French cookie dunked in a cup of tea. In any case, it is by association with nicotine that Hens shows us what he wants us to know about his life. ![]() How nice: to have the emergence of one’s self marked by a rocket exploding! And, because he is a writer, he sees this birth of a story as the birth of his personality. In his mind, the entire episode-the coughing fit, his mother’s blue hat, his almost uncontainable pride in the fact that he, not his brothers, detonated the first rocket-comes together into a story, the first memory he has that is a story rather than just an image or a sensation. It also, he believes, gave him the beginnings of a personality: “I became myself for the first time.” He means this literally. “You have to take a drag on it, my mother said out of the half-darkness.” He took a drag, the ember glowed again, and the child suffered a near-collapse from coughing and joy.Īs Hens tells us in his memoir, “Nicotine” (Other translated from the German by Jen Calleja), this experience eventually landed him with a decades-long addiction to nicotine. Then he saw that the cigarette’s ember had ceased to glow. Frau Hens finally lost patience: “She pulled out a cigarette, lit it and held it out to me.” Little Gregor took this wonderful thing and held it to the fuse of one of the rockets, which shot into the sky. But they couldn’t light the fuses, because Gregor’s two older brothers were fighting over the lighter. It was New Year’s Eve, and the Hens family, like many Germans, were out in the snow setting up fireworks. The German writer Gregor Hens smoked his first cigarette when he was five. When your heart doesn’t need to beat fast in order to pump blood to your muscles, it can be more flexible and vary the time between beats. In contrast, activation of the parasympathetic nervous system drops your overall heart rate and increases your HRV. Stress encourages your heart to beat more like a metronome: at a regular, consistent beat. Stress activates your sympathetic (fight-or-flight) nervous system, which speeds up your heart rate and decreases the variability between your heartbeats (i.e. Harnessing the power of your breath can be one of the most effective ways to relax, nudge your nervous system into a parasympathetic state, and increase your HRV values. They begin taking breaths that are shallow, short, and powered by the upper chest (as opposed to the abdomen). One of the most immediately-noticeable symptoms of someone experiencing stress is a sudden change in their breathing pattern. People often assume stress occurs exclusively in the mind, but stress has powerful manifestations in the physical body as well. However, it’s also affected by some factors you can control, like your sleep, nutrition, and physical activity. Your HRV rate is determined by several factors you can’t control, such as age, gender, and hormone cycles. Data from the team at Oura tells us another interesting thing about HRV data: “HRV isn’t as simple as ‘how high can you go?’ having more consistent HRV values from day to day can also signal an enhanced ability to respond to daily stressors.”Ī normal HRV range for adults can be anywhere from below 20 to over 200 milliseconds. Tracking your HRV can relay very powerful information about the state of your physical and mental health. In order to adapt to today’s modern stressors, many of us have a dominant sympathetic nervous system, leading to a low HRV score.
